Douglas County, Colorado : Sustainability Initiative

PropertyValue
NameDouglas County, Colorado : Sustainability Initiative
Organization DescriptionThe Douglas County Sustainability Initiative Advisory Committee (SIAC) invited County residents and business owners to attend one of eight public Listening and Recruiting Tour (LRT) meetings in May and June. SIAC members asked for the public's thoughts and opinions on the sustainability of Douglas County as an economy, a community and an environment for future generations. The Douglas County Sustainability Initiative (Initiative) will be a cooperative effort including residents, representatives from the Partnership of Douglas County Governments (Partnership), topic-area experts, business owners, and staff. The Initiative will be comprised of the SIAC and the Working Group. Both groups will be responsible for reporting to the County Manager and to the public on a regular basis. The structure will bring disparate County sustainability activities together to support Board of County Commissioner policies and goals, build efficiencies by reducing redundant staff efforts, foster public participation, and ensure sustainability program recommendations to the County Manager have been developed cooperatively by staff and the public.
